DECADE OF THE 60s
We were born on May 3, 1965 in the city of Cali under the Administration of Mr. Alfonso Diaz Viana, under the slogan the bank that knows you
DECADE OF THE 70s
We opened our first offices outside Cali, in the cities of Palmira, Pereira and Armenia, with a network of 15 offices.
We started a new stage under the orientation of the Sarmiento Angulo Economic Group, strengthening the Bank with capital resources and new experiences, transforming the institution until we became an entity with national and international projection.
We launched our own Credencial Cerdit Card system.
Our Affiliate Sales and Services was born which provides outsourcing services for the administrative, operational, credit, data base maintenance and updating areas, input and output telemarketing services and markets research.
DECADE OF THE 80s
The Affiliate Leasing de Occidente was born, created for providing a timely response to the reconversion needs of Colombian companies.
Banco de Occidente Panama was born, an Affiliate of Banco de Occidente Colombia.
We carried out the Visual Corporate Image change aiming to modify the regionalist approach that we had during the last years and to provide greater dynamism of the Bank and its Affiliates.
DECADE OF THE 90s
The Affiliate Fiduciaria de Occidente was born
We acquired the majority stockholding of Leasing del Comercio, negotiation that allowed us, through the merger with Leasing de Occidente, to participate in the stock capital of the same.
We opened our new headquarters at the Historic Center of Cali, which is deemed today as one of the best infrastructure works of the city.
We became part of Grupo AVAL, which includes the Banks AVVillas, Bogota, Occidente and Popular creating with such participation a significant advantage for the clients of each of the entities, having a broad network of offices for carrying out transactions between the banks.
DECADE 2000 - 2010
We acquired Banco Aliadas on October, 2004. With such merger, the Bank sought to strengthen its consumption market introducing the line Vehicles, Insurance and Motorcycles.
Through merger, we acquired Banco Union Colombiano.
We integrated the Leasing de Occidente Unit to the Bank’s operations and created a new business unit called Banca Leasing, thus extending our products and services portfolio.
DECADE OF 2010 AND THEREINAFTER
We entered into the creation of a new business unit for offering Housing Financing.
We implemented the Corporate Strategy project during the first half of this year, with which we developed a new business model that includes a customer-focused and specialized value proposition for each Core segment of the Bank, creating 3 business units Companies, Individuals and Credit Cards & Payroll Loans.
We opened alternate headquarters in Cali located at River Avenue, jointly with Banco de Bogota.
Once more we transformed our Visual Corporate Image and implemented a new model of more modern Offices.
During the last 34 years the commitment of Banco de Occidente with the community has been reinforced with the ecological work, highlighting the annual edition of a Book and National Award of Ecology Blue Planet which recognizes the actions and endeavor towards the conservation of hydric resources.
Today, after 55 years in the Colombian financial market, Banco de Occidente has an important network of offices at a national level that reaches more than 200 Branches, with over 3,531 ATMs.
